A complete submission includes the following:
- PI, Co-PI, and collaborator information
- Title, target species or all species, amount requested (up to $25,000 per year), duration (1 or 2 years), and type of proposal (new or continuation)
- Significance/Relevance/Impact statement of 150 words or less for ILHAC council members
- If “yes” to Summer Scholar potential, provide a brief (300 words or less) abstract for students
- Proposal in pdf or Word format, including signed cover page
Proposal Review
Proposals are sorted by animal species and then ranked within each species prior to submitting to the ILHAC Board. The ILHAC Board will then make the final decision on which proposals will be funded based on current research priorities. See 2024 Priorities here.
Eligibility
- The PI must have a regular appointment at the College of Veterinary of Medicine and be eligible under the VPR eligibility guidelines. However, faculty members in other colleges, graduate students, postdocs, or any other qualified researchers are permitted and encouraged to serve as a Co-PI or collaborator.
- Although an individual may be an investigator on up to three proposals to this program, an individual can serve as PI on only one and must serve as Co-PI on others.
- More than one new scientifically-distinct proposal can be submitted, however, an investigator cannot serve as PI on more than one award at any given time and funding decisions must follow #2 above.
- The ILHAC funding for a project is available for a maximum of two years.
