BIO
Dr. Wesner grew up in La Grange Park, Illinois. He received a BS in Bacteriology from Iowa State and an MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Wesner completed residency training in psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, subsequently joining the faculty. During his academic tenure, he conducted research in psychiatric genetics, anxiety disorders, and affective disorders. For four decades, he served as a dedicated psychiatrist in the Iowa City community. His passion extended to addressing mental health challenges faced by medical professionals of all types. Notably, 18 years ago, he introduced a unique approach, integrating his dogs into his practice, and their impact proved substantial. Dr. Wesner retired from clinical practice in 2023. He resides in Solon, Iowa, with his two Labrador Retrievers, Kae and Story.
